It does seem to be a mixture of these things.
Sometimes the students choose, either informally or through a
ballot. At other times, the particular need of a student will
dictate which charity a school adopts. In one school, one
student had Muscular Distrophy, so we supported the MD
Society. Occasionally, there is a charity committee which is
made up from students and staff who take requests and make a
decision. Other times, the staff make the decision or, more
often, senior staff do. Yes, charities do approach schools
and, if accepted, are able to come and make
presentations.appeals in assemblies or at meetings.
There is no one way to decide which charity a school supports.
