Post: Moving to California to teach?

Posted by Victoria on 3/07/08

Hi there - I'm thinking of moving into primary teaching. I
currently work for the police. Which over here (England)
would involve me signing up to do a GTP (Graduate Teacher
Programme) as I have a degree in zoology.

However, the long term goal is to move to California. Now,
how useful would a GTP be over there? I have tried to wade
through Californian government information on teaching in
California but it's all a bit confusing!

So, help? Any ex pats who've done something similar?
Anyone want to encourage me to do this career change? OR
    advise me against it? ;)

Also, is a GTP the right thing to do? What would be the
likelihood of getting a job teaching elementary school for
    an English-taught teacher?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Victoria (nr London!)
